The Painters Are Coming Today is a short story written by Steve Rasnic Tem. It was first published in the 1979 anthology Other Worlds 1, edited by Roy Torgeson. It was reprinted in the 1984 anthology 100 Great Fantasy Short Stories, edited by Isaac Asimov, Terry Carr, and Martin H. Greenberg and again in the 2000 collection City Fishing.
