The Face in the Desert is a short story written by Ramsey Campbell. It was first published in the 1965 magazine Mirage, #7. It was reprinted in the 1969 magazine Weird Fantasy, #1, in the magazine From Beyond the Dark Gateway, October 1977, in Crypt of Cthulhu, Hallowmas 1986, and in the 1986 collection The Inhabitant of the Lake and Less Welcome Tenants.
