Paying Joe Back is a short story written by Richard Laymon. It was first published in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine, September 1975. It was reprinted in Laymon's 1993 collection A Good, Secret Place and again in Laymon's 2000 collection Dreadful Tales.
