Murder Legendre, played by Bela Lugosi, was the main antagonist in the 1932 film White Zombie.
Legendre lives in Haiti, where he uses voodoo to command an army of zombies to do slave work on a sugar plantation.
Once Madeleine Short and Neil Parker arrive on the island, the plantation owner Charles Beaumont solicits Legendre's help to convince Short to marry him.
After Madeleine is zombified, Beaumont changes his mind about the arrangement, but Legendre refuses to release his hold over her. Her zombified state is only released after Dr. Bruner renders Legendre unconscious.
Legendre is then killed by Beaumont after Beaumont pushes him off a cliff.
