Mr. Wood is a character in several R. L. Stine novellas. He was first featured in Night of the Living Dummy.
In Night of the Living Dummy, Mr. Wood was bought by Kris Powell after her sister, Lindy, claimed the other dummy, Slappy, that they both found in a dumpster. When Kris finds and recites a card in Mr. Wood's pocket with the words Karru Marri Odonna Loma Molonu Karrano, things start to go bad.
Mr. Wood insults people during Kris' dummy act. He vomits green all over the audience at the school talent show. When people blame Kris, she tries to convince them that it was actually Mr. Wood who was responsible.
Mr. Wood reveals that he is indeed alive to Kris and Lindy and tells them he wants them as his slaves. They attempt to destroy him by beheading him and burying him, but neither attempt works. He is only destroyed when, finally, he is run over by a steam roller.
Mr. Wood also appeared in I Am Slappy's Evil Twin, another novella written by Stine. In it, he reveals that he was owned by a ventriloquist named Franz Mahar who befriended a man named Kanduu. One day when Mr. Wood leapt out of his box and punched Mahar, Mahar realized that Kanduu was evil and was using Mr. Wood for evil purposes. Mahar put Mr. Wood back in his box and abandoned him.
