Katahdin is a mutated bear featured in the film Prophecy (1979).
Katahdin was a bear that was mutated due to severe paper mill pollution in the bottom of the Androscoggin River. The bear kills a number of people while seeking out its cub which is also mutated.
She was portrayed by the late Kevin Peter Hall and her vocal sound effects were provided by Frank Welker.
She is only stopped after being repeatedly shot and stabbed before retreating to the river where she drowned.
