Frank Whemple, played by David Manners, is a fictional character who was featured in the 1932 film The Mummy.
Frank Whemple is the son of Sir Joseph Whemple. He leads an Egyptian archaeological expedition years after one of his fathers' assistants went mad from witnessing the a mummy come to life and walk away.
He is commissioned by Ardeth Bey, who is truly a revived Imhotep, who shows them where to dig to find the tomb of the Princess Anck-su-namun. After locating the tomb, the archaeologists present its treasures to the Cairo Museum, after which Bey disappears.
Ardeth Bey attempts to revive the spirit of Anck-su-namun into Helen Grosvenor who bears a striking likeness to the dead princess. Frank and Dr. Muller attempt to stop him but are both incapacitated. The ancient ancestors' spirits intervene and stop Bey from completing the ceremony and he is destroyed. Frank revives Helen as the Scroll of Thoth Bey was using in the ceremony burned.
