
Ferdinand "Ferdie" Jones, played by Lou Costello, is a character in the 1941 film Hold That Ghost.
Ferdie and Chuck Murray are gas station attendants who want better jobs. They aspire to own a night club so the Andrews Sisters and Ted Lewis will come perform. While tending to gangster Moose Matson's car, the police spot his car and chase him. Chuck and Ferdie are trapped and are along for the ride when Moose is shot and killed.
In accordance to his will, his club is left to the one's who are closest to him at his death, meaning Chuck and Ferdie. After they arrive at the club, Ferdie is terrorized my men posing as ghosts, though Chuck doesn't believe him. They even went as far as rigging the candles on the table top to slide back and forth though Camille Brewster, who is sitting right next to him, doesn't notice.
Later, he discovers that there are indeed thugs in the building and he, along with the others staying with them, are able to subdue them. After discovering the well water that tasted strange is loaded with health benefits, they make a fortune and Chuck and Ferdie are able to live out their dream as club owners.
