Emily Cowles, portrayed by ruth McDevitt, is a fictional character from the television series Kolchak: The Night Stalker.
Emily is an elderly puzzles and advice columnist known as "Miss Emily". Cowles aspires to be a novelist and expresses passion for issues relating to the elderly. She is often sympathetic toward Carl Kolchak and the two share a warm working relationship. In the episode Horror in the Heights, it was revealed that Emily is the only person Kolchak trusts as she was the image projected to him by the Rakshasa - a creature that uses a person's most trusted friend or loved one to lure them in.
