The Strigoi were featured first in the novel The Strain written by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan and then in the television adaptation of the same name.
The Strigoi are vampires who operate with a hive mind and whose vamphirism is spread via parasitic worms.
Unlike traditional vampires, they have a "stinger", a retractable proboscis located under the vampire's tongue, the middle finger on each hand is unnaturally long, and their eyes are bright red.
